Over the weekend, an unedited, natural-looking photograph of Khloe Kardashian started circulating online after it was published by a member of her team.
Since then, the TV star and media personality’s representatives have been making efforts to urge various Instagram accounts to remove copies of the photo.
According to a report by Page Six, many handles which reposted the image and praised it as “beautiful” have now received “legal threats” calling for its removal, as the photograph was apparently not approved by Kardashian.
Tracy Romulus, chief marketing officer for KKW Brands, said in a statement: “The color edited photo was taken of Khloé during a private family gathering and posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant.”
He added: “Khloé looks beautiful but it is within the right of the copyright owner to not want an image not intended to be published taken down.”
Instagram, Reddit, and Twitter have since began alerting accounts about the photograph being taken down on the grounds that it may constitute a copyright infringement.
Earlier this year, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted a photograph of her stretch marks with the caption “I love my stripes” in a bid to promote body positivity.
